Looking for a Large Mobile? You’re in Luck!
Big mobiles, large mobiles, oversized mobiles, oh my!
While most of the mobiles you’ll find here on my site are sized to fit your everyday spaces, I always feel lucky when I have a chance to create oversized designs – mobiles created to make a space. And that’s exactly what happened when I partnered up with Plethora Studio (Instagram: @plethora.studio).
Based here in Portland, OR, the Plethora owners, Annika and Marcus, invited me to create a series of nine larger fine art mobiles for a one-day art experience in their downtown loft studio earlier this summer. And it was a blast!
Joined by stellar local artists Leah Kohlenberg and Alison Dougherty, the event presented an opportunity for me to upsize some of my most popular designs and play with exciting new colorways.
Here’s a peek at a few of the mobiles…
At over 6’ tall, Indigoblues (76” tall x 42” wide) is an XL version of my Shadowbloom (28” tall by 15" wide) design. Talk about impact!
With its 19 shades of red and orange, topped with a perfect pop of blue, Redpopblue (64” tall x 40” wide) is nearly double the size of its little sisters, Le Parme (36” tall x 28” wide) and Le Parme XL (50” tall x 36” wide).
With its signature red sun and cascade of blues, Endless (42” tall x 35” wide) shows how adding just one new element (the vermilion disc) and updating the palette can make a big impact compared to its inspiration mobile, Black Beauty (28" tall x 24" wide).
Looking for even more color? Then, Pride:full (38” tall x 32” wide) certainly delivers. Painted in a similar palette to its smaller cousin, Pride (20" tall x 20" wide), the larger scale absolutely mesmerizes.
At 33% larger than Petrolflash (24" tall x 36" wide), Retroflash (38” tall x 48” wide) in its earthy retro colors is one of my favorites from the show.
With some mobiles, just a change of color can totally transform the way the design fills the space. And that couldn’t be more true than with Swansong (32” tall x 48” wide). While it’s not dramatically taller than its twin, that extra 12” in width and the blushing hues of pinks and peach bring a whole new vibe to The Wren (24" tall x 36" wide).
Although I was focused on creating larger designs, I did include a few designs where I changed nothing other than the palette. A favorite was Spatial Defrag (26” x 26”). The chocolate browns and blues with that burst of orange – mmmmh, so yummy!
Thanks again to the amazing team at Plethora for such a fun experience. The mobiles are back home with me now, and they’re ready to find new homes. That said, if you’d like to bring one of these into your home or office, you can order directly from the links above.
Cheers!
