Le Tour, Commentators, and Celebrating Your Race

On self-talk

“Can I stop it?” asked mouse.

“Probably not,” explained bear, “but you can definitely change it.”

PHIL: “And, wow, he’s getting out of bed. Look at that form! Both feet on the ground before 6 a.m.! Have you ever seen anything like it, Bob?”

BOB: “Indeed, Phil, the way he’s walking down the hall toward that coffee is truly impressive. He is in rare form, isn’t he?”

PHIL: “I think he’s actually going to answer an email *before* he pours his first cup. Is this a wise tactic, Bob?”

BOB: “If he keeps this up, he’s going to be ahead of the peloton all day long. He might very well earn the yellow jersey before anyone else is even up.”

Can you imagine what it would be like to have your day commentated by the likes of Phil Liggett and Bob Roll?

With the volume of negative self-talk that usually takes up residence in our heads, what would it be like if these iconic commentators celebrated your every accomplishment, even the ones so many of us take for granted…

Like breathing.
Like moving your body.
Like drinking water.
Like feeding yourself.
Like feeling and thinking and, well, simply being.

Sure, most of us aren’t riding the Tour de France, but our race – life – is deserving of such celebration, of honoring what you do, day in and day out, every day, in every moment.

It’s hard and sometimes unbearable.
It’s smooth sailing and sometimes glorious.

You’re here.
You’re doing this.
And I celebrate you.
And I’m inspired by you.
Over and over again.

How can you celebrate yourself by positively commentating some stretch of your day today?
