This fall, it was my pleasure to facilitate another 10-week
writing workshop with Write Around Portland (writearound.org)
If you're not familiar with this organization and the fabulous women who run it, Write Around is an amazing Portland nonprofit that offers free 10-week workshops
facilitated by volunteers like me in prisons, affordable housing,
schools, and hospitals, among other places, and then publishes every
participating writer at the end of the workshop in an awesome anthology.
If you're looking for a new organization to
support / fall in love with, I can't say enough good things about Write Around. Visit their site to learn more and discover what makes their mission so unique and special.
After every session this fall, I wondered what I could do more to help spread the word about Write Around and support their awesome mission of respect, writing, and community.
So this year, I created a series of nine new "charity" mobiles - with 25% of the proceeds going to all the truly life-changing work the people at Write Around do. As of today, four of the mobiles have sold and five are still looking for new homes.
Whether you purchase a mobile or not, I invite you to consider supporting Write Around continue their mission to use writing as "a powerful tool for individual and societal
transformation, self-expression, healing and the realization of the
dignity of one’s self and others."
